Defence and Security Accelerator CALL

Defence and Security Accelerator CALL

The Defence and Security Accelerator is holding an event in London on 27 July 2017 to provide more information on the themed competition: ‘Improving Crowd Resilience’.

This was the result of the recent terrorist attacks in London and Manchester. The Accelerator is working with the Home Office to find innovative ways to identify a terrorist threat in a crowded place, bringing together the private sector, SMEs and academics with police, Government and Heads of Security.

The Open Call for Innovation provides a route into defence and security for any supplier who thinks they have an idea that can benefit UK Defence and Security, at home or abroad. The Accelerator Open Call for Innovation provides some direction on what MOD’s on-going research challenges are, while still remaining open to all highly innovative ideas that challenge existing conventions and have a high potential benefit for the defence and security end user.

It has a budget of up to £6 million in financial year 2017/18. The Accelerator typically funds proposals for proof-of-concept research in the range of £50,000 to £90,000 for work of up to 9 months duration.

The Accelerator Innovation event is taking place at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, with registration opening at 09:30. Bruce Hardie, Accelerator Innovation Partner will brief on what the Accelerator is all about, their funding opportunities and how to work with them. If you are interested in attending the launch of this competition, please register for the event here. You will need some form of photo identification on the day to show at the registration desk.

Registration for the event will close on Monday 24 July at 12:30.
