Have a Cyber Security Idea but Don’t Know How to Make it a Reality?

Have a Cyber Security Idea but Don’t Know How to Make it a Reality?

HutZero is now accepting applications from individuals who want to turn their ideas into successful cyber businesses for the second consecutive year. Twenty candidates will be selected to join HutZero’s second cohort in September 2017.

Last year, the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) and Cyber London launched HutZero, a cyber security early stage accelerator programme which will is run jointly by the two organisations.

HutZero is now aimed at individuals who want to turn their ideas into successful cyber businesses. It kicks off with an intensive five-day bootcamp* at CyLon’s London premises, jam-packed with workshops on technical development, business fundamentals and team building. The curriculum will be delivered by cyber security experts and start-up gurus.

After the stage one London bootcamp, participants will be able to receive guidance and mentoring from HutZero staff and sponsors. Participants will be encouraged to continue to work on their ideas in their newly-formed teams, and will be invited to reunite for an alumni event.

*Please note that HutZero requires applicants to participate in all five days of the bootcamp. Accommodation and travel costs for the bootcamp will be covered by HutZero.

Dates:

The bootcamp takes place 4-8 September 2017, with the alumni reunion on 28 November 2017.

Applications:

Anyone with an interest in cyber security innovation can apply. HutZero is looking for people who can demonstrate entrepreneurial flair and spirit, and who are committed to exploring a career in cyber security. They welcome applications from individuals at any stage of their career. Please note that HutZero is not for teams, like some other accelerators. Closing date to apply: 30 July 2017.

Is it necessary to be technically trained?

Technical expertise is not a necessity for this programme. Cyber innovation is deeply technical at a product level, but it takes all sorts to run a successful business. In the long run, it will help you to have some technical understanding, but HutZero is about forming teams and crystallising ideas. If you learn fast and are interested in the cyber market, they welcome your application.

Interviews:

Interviews are scheduled for 3 August 2017. All interviews will be conducted online.
