Disaster Response: Knowledge Domains and Information Flows

As part of Expertise Under Pressure (EUP), a project funded by the funded by the Humanities and Social Change International Foundation, the University of Cambridge is hosting an interactive workshop on Disaster Response: Knowledge Domains and Information Flows. The workshop will bring together individuals with a range of disciplines and experiences  working in and researching expertise, organisational theory, knowledge production and dissemination, and disaster management. 

The workshop will address questions including:

  • What type of knowledge is and should be used? 
  • What constitutes an expert? 
  • How is and should uncertainty be factored into decisions and communicated? 
  • What happens to, and should happen to, knowledge after it is produced and the event has taken place?

Speakers include Amy Donovan (University of Cambridge), Robert Evans (Cardiff University), Dorothea Hilhorst (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Elizabeth Surkovic (The Royal Society), and Benjamin Taylor (Evidence Aid).
