New Policy Briefing on Innovation Challenges in Cybersecurity being launched at the “Innovation in Cyber Security” Conference on 14 March 2016

We are pleased to announce that the Partnership, together with KTN (Knowledge Transfer Network), is launching a Policy Briefing on Innovation Challenges in Cybersecurity at the “Innovation in Cyber Security” Conference organised by the Digital Catapult on Monday 14 March 2016.

Our Policy Briefing, which stems from a residential workshop that we ran last November, will be presented by Dr. Tristram Riley-Smith, the External Champion to the Partnership. During the workshop, a select group of leaders from academia, government, industry, and the investment sector was brought together in order to uncover and address the main obstacles to delivering effective cybersecurity solutions.

Two dominant themes emerged from our workshop: how to take ownership of the problem; and how to maximise the opportunity for innovation and growth. The Policy Briefing on Innovation Challenges in Cybersecurity summarises these two challenges under the headings of “Market Literacy” and “The Innovation Pipeline” and proposes authoritative recommendations which, we believe, could help to overcome the barriers to innovation in cybersecurity at a global level, helping transform SMEs sector by:

  • Breaking innovation out of universities
  • Giving start-ups the business and other support they need
  • Helping SMEs to secure kitemarks for their products and to get their first customers.

And bringing knock-on benefits to our wider economy and society.
