New Academic Centre at UCT to Develop Cybersecurity of African Countries

In March 2020, the University of Cape Town launched a new academic centre to develop cybersecurity in African countries. The Cybersecurity Capacity Centre for Southern Africa has begun its work with training provided by the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre at Oxford, on the Cyber Maturity Model for Nations, and will soon begin cyber maturity assessments in Uganda.

The centre aims to improve Africa’s ability to fight cybercrime, engage in capacity-building for cybersecurity, and promote women’s engagement and participation in the area of cybersecurity.
